Second day, we took the Metro on our way to
Charles-de-Gaulle Etoile station for our first stop at the
Arc de Triomphe.
From there we strolled along
Avenue de
Champs-Elysees on our way to the
Louvre Museum.
Along Champs-Elysees, we passed by the
Grand Palais.
About 3 blocks away from the Grand Palais was the
Place de la
Concorde which was very near the Louvre Museum.
Had some crepe with Grand Marnier for
breakfast; took some wacky photos at the park and we finally reached the
Louvre. The museum was packed with tourists which was expected because
it housed the Mona Lisa.
Most tourists did not really care about the
other paintings in the museum. Just like us, we went to see the Mona
Lisa first then went on our way and just made some quick views of the other
art items in the museum. While I was at Mona Lisa room, I went side to
side and indeed she was looking at me. Probably one of the reasons why
the painting is so famous.
The sculpture of
Venus de Milo was
also at the museum and took the opportunity of having our pictures taken.
Venus de Milo was believed to be the sculpture of the Greek goddess
Aphrodite.
From the Louvre, we walked several blocks
towards the Notre Dame Chapel.
The chapel was so magnificent with its baroque architecture yet subtle.
I liked Paris very much because of its
preserved culture. The city was very romantic and proud of its
heritage.
After our stop at Notre Dame, we headed back
to the hotel and rested our swollen feet which were already full of
blisters!
My next stop the following day was Beijing
and Aunt Susan went back to Minneapolis, Minnesota.
It was a very interesting and fun trip to
Europe.
