It was a rainy day on October 14 but I
already laid the plan so "rain or shine", I had to go around Sydney.
Walked 1 block away from the hotel for
Sydney Explorer stop #15 and headed to stop #17, Chinatown.
Typical Chinatown with excellent priced items and food.
From Chinatown, I went to stop #19 -
Sydney Fish Market.
It was a very clean fish trading area and didn't smell bad. The fish
market even had a strip of restaurants and I had a sumptuous lunch of half
lobster and a dozen of tiger prawns. There was also a liquor store and
had a nice can of mixed Jack.
Visited the
National Maritime Museum
at stop #19 and as much as I wanted to walk along
Darling Harbour, the rain was
just heavy at that time. Anyway, the most interesting piece at the
Maritime Museum was the small ship made of beer cans!
From the Maritime Museum, I hopped on the
next Sydney Explorer bus, skipped the other stops and proceeded to the
Sydney Opera House. It was
not as massive as I thought. It just looked grand and huge in the
movies.
Hopped on the bus again and went to stop #3
which was the northern side of Sydney. The bus passed through
Sydney Harbour
Bridge. At this stop, I had my pictures taken where the frontage
of the opera house was by the harbour. At the wharf, I chatted with
Oliver who was fishing at that time.
Finally, sunlight late in the afternoon! I
stopped at the
Royal
Botanical Garden where it boasted the most number of collection of palms
in the world. From the garden, I strolled along the historic
Macquarie St.
where the Parliament was located, Sydney Hospital where its icon is a wild
boar,
Hyde
Park Barracks, St. James Church and the famous St. Mary's Cathedral.
After a long second day, I went to the
hotel's beer brewery and chilled.
