Peterhof (Petergof) Grand Palace

Day 1 - St. Petersburg

Day 2 - More of St. Petersburg

Second day, I went to the Grand Palace of Peterhof by myself as Peter was still recovering from the hard core party we had the previous night with the Russian girls we met at the bar.

There are several ways how to go to Peterhof, via hydrofoil, Metro subway or bus.  Since it was already fall season, the hydrofoil was not in-service anymore.  They were only operational during the summer period.  Since Grand Belmond Hotel was beside Nevsky Prospekt Station, I took the Metro en route to Avtovo station.  From Avtovo, I took Bus #200 which dropped me off in front of Peterhof complex.

St. Petersburg is more tourist friendly than Moscow.  There were English translation on the subway map and signs.  It was not difficult going around St. Petersburg due to this tourism feature.  One of the breathtaking features of the subways was the architectural design of the station.  The trains looked dilapidated but that stations looked better than 4 star hotel lobby.

When I got to the Peterhof Grand Palace, the fountains were not running anymore as some of the water turned into ice already. But it was still a fantastic view with the golden statues fronting the palace.  Entrance to the museum was RUB 550 (CAD$14) and NO PHOTOS allowed inside the museum.

From Peterhof, I went back to St. Petersbug to kill the rest of the afternoon.
