Stop #4 - Day 1
Zurich, Switzerland
On our last day at Zurich, we went to St.
Gallen, Switzerland for the annual
OLMA agricultural
trade event. The drive was about 1 hour to 1.5 hours from Zurich.
I did not notice it because I was asleep in the van and was told that I even
snored. One of the dogs, Figo was startled when he heard me snore.
The trade fair was a showcase of livestock,
agricultural products, and equipment. First time I saw sheeps with
individual bells on their neck. Lots of free cheese and sausage
tasting. For lunch, Sam and I tried grilled horse meat. It did
not taste beef or chicken, but like the other exotic dishes that I've had,
horse meat had its own distinct flavor, which was actually good.
From the trade fair, we went around downtown
St. Gallen and Gabi told us how her parents met in St. Gallen and got
married there.
We celebrated Sam's birthday at the Talattad
residence and we had blood and liver sausage which was very tasty and a
typical Swiss delicacy during winter. Sam prepared "palabok" (noodles)
and had an excellent selection of fine Swiss beer and wine.
As we wrapped our European tour, we flew back
to Toronto the following day, October 19, 2012. When we landed at
0400PM, the Tiaga, Guzman and Talattad families brought food at my place and
celebrated my 40th year!
Until the next adventure.
