First Half
of Buenos Aires Trip
Rio de Janeiro, April 21
Sao Paolo, April 22
Peter Roszak decided to follow in
Buenos Aires on April 19. Since Mario and I basically finished the
sights within 1.5 days and he had to attend his medical conference, I just
had to be Peter's tour guide with exactly almost the same route Mario and I
took!
Strolled along
Puerto Madero, the river, but that time Peter and I went inside the
Naval Ship Museum (ARA
Presidente Sarmiento). Then had dinner at
Siga La Vaca where we sat at the exactly the same table Mario and I sat.
Had the same grilled beef, lamp chops, sausage, and bottles of cabernet
sauvignon!
The following day April 20, Peter and I went
to El Caminito at La
Boca Barrio. We took the cab from the hotel to the area and paid about
US$5 (25 pesos). Caminito was just an area of colored houses and
another tourist area in Buenos Aires. Mario was not able to see
Caminito but Peter was not able to see the flea market.
Took another cab to the hotel and from there,
I guided Peter through
Plaza de Mayo,
presidential palace (Casa
Rosada), the
obelisk,
and Teatro Colon.
Then we went to La Recoleta
Cemetery and I had a very easy time of finding the tomb of
Eva Peron which was at
spot #57!
We went back to the hotel and picked up Mario
and a newly found friend, Nahuel Anso who worked as a concierge at Moreno
Hotel. We invited him as we celebrated our last night in Buenos Aires.
He brought us to
Plaza Cortazar
in Palermo Hollywood. It was a bit far from our hotel and we paid
about US$12 for the cab (60 pesos). The area was the hip place for
Buenos Aires locals where international pubs were scattered along the Plaza.
Nahuel introduced the cocktail drink
Fernet which at first was
very bitter but when mixed with regular coke, it had a very good kick.
Had a great time at Buenos Aires and will
definitely go back! Rio de Janeiro, Brazil here we come!
