Stop #5.  Extremely Boring Helsinki, Finland. October 19, 2014

Stop 1 - Warsaw, Poland

Stop 2 - Vilnius, Lithuania

Stop 3 - Riga, Latvia

Stop 4 - Tallinn, Estonia

Stop 6 - St. Petersburg, Russia

Stop 7 - Moscow, Russia

First thing morning on October 19, Peter and I took the ferry from Tallinn to Helsinki via Tallink Silja Lines.  It was a 2 hour ride for about CAD$68.50.  Since we were still hungover from 2 consecutive nights of birthday celebrations, it was a challenge travelling in the morning.  Good thing the ferry had excellent service and amenities that kept us afloat during the 2 hour ride.

Once we arrived at Helsinki port, we took a cab to our hotel, Cumulus Kaisaniemi which was a 3 minute walk from the train station where we embarked for our journey to Russia on October 20.

Once settled, we went around the city proper and there was literally nothing to do or see.  We went to the Helsinki Cathedral and in front of that was the Helsinki Senate Square.  We just kept walking around the city and by the seawall was a big alien looking statue taking a piss.  For the fun of it, we had our pictures taken underneath weird statue.

There was nothing else to see so we killed time by walking around Helsinki and had dinner at one of the regular restaurants.  Though not as expensive as Oslo, Norway, it was still ridiculous that I was asked to pay about CAD$2 for extra bread.

After dinner, we settled back to the hotel still recovering from hangover.
