From Beijing, Peter and I proceeded to Davao
City and skipped Manila since some areas in the Philippine capital were
still under water due to flooding.
We arrived in Davao City late at night on
October 13. I did some chores and errands in the city on October 14
and Peter tagged along.
We went to Gumasa Beach resort on October 15
with May Marte, her son Gian and her brother-in-law, Bong Jickain.
Gumasa boasts of a long stretch of white sand and clear water.
Unspoiled beach resort which made it quite exotic. The drive from Davao City
to Gumasa was about 2.5 hours one way.
We stayed overnight at May's house and went
back to Davao on Oct 16 for other appointments. The night of October
16, Peter and my cousins Bam-Bam and Chi-Chi went bar hopping.
Following day, October 17, we had a party at
the house in celebration of my birthday on that of Peter. His was October 18
and mine was on the 19th. We had plenty of food, booze, good company
from friends and relatives.
We left Davao City late night on the 18th of
October for our early flight to Hongkong en route back to Toronto.
I celebrated my birthday twice on October 19.
First was in Asia and when we arrived in Toronto, it was still the 19th
though it was 15 hour 1 way flight.
